Straight8 Shootout

Every year Straight8 hosts a short film competition called ‘Shootout’ which is specifically for companies to enter. So I rallied my creative team to create something special for it. 

❋ Shot on film

This means you have to film in sequential order, and you only get one take. A huge creative challenge. 

❋ Adding audio blind

The hardest challenge? You have to record your audio completely blind, seeing audio to picture for the first time at the ceremony - hoping it matches up.

❋ Team pitches

We organised a pitch day, for everyone in the agency to pitch their idea to the ECD and Production Director, so anyone had a chance of getting their script picked.

❋ A shoestring budget

Obviously, as this was completely out of DEPT’s pocket, we produced the whole thing ourselves - we were even the talent!
